LSI is looking for Hardware Technicians to join our training devices team! Hardware Technicians are involved in the disassembly, repair, overhaul, modification, alignment, assembly, and diagnostic checks of aviation related training devices.

Essential Job Functions:

• Perform disassembly, repair, overhaul, modification, multi-aircraft system integration, and final operational testing of completed trainer systems to ensure conformance to acceptance documentation.
• Use engineering drawings, schematics and technical directives to fabricate subassemblies or components as required.
• Integrate subassemblies and components into complexed multi-integrated aircraft systems by aligning and synchronizing as required.
• Troubleshoot subassemblies, components, or complete aircraft system, analyze, repair and make corrections to ensure conformance to acceptance documentation.
• Utilize common hand tools, calibrated tools, and approved specialty tools as required.
• Remove or install components to facilitate mechanical or structural repairs.
• Recondition components such as hydraulic/pneumatic actuators, valve assemblies and hydraulic pumps by installing modification kits or replacing defective parts and/or hardware.
• Inspect or test assemblies, subassemblies, or components for fit, alignment, performance, defects, or compliance with standards, using measuring instruments or test equipment.
• Adjust, recondition, or replace components to ensure proper operation.
• Assemble and integrate prefabricated parts with existing aircraft systems.
• Clean, oil, or coat system components as necessary before assembly or attachment.
• Operate overhead or mobile cranes or signal crane operators to position components for final assembly.
• Determine the nature and extent of repairs to be made using applicable Technical Manuals (TMs) as guidelines.
• Must be available to work a standard weekly schedule with overtime as required.
• Available for short term travel to complete work off site.
• Perform other duties as required.

Job Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Comprehensive knowledge of aerodynamics relating to fixed or rotary wing aircraft.
• Working knowledge of airframe/structural systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic bleed air systems, environmental control systems, mechanical control systems, mechanical flight control systems, fly-by-wire flight control systems, drive systems, gear boxes, engines, landing gear systems, and airframe rigging systems.
• Working knowledge of metals, fabrics, plastics, compounds and lubricants.
• Must be able to navigate, read, and interpret integrated electronic maintenance manuals (IETM’s), written directives, and engineering drawings.
• Ability to troubleshoot complexed multi-integrated aircraft systems.
• Knowledge of hand tools, specialty tools, and calibrated tools used in assembly and testing.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Three (3) years related experience required.
• Experience with aircraft mechanical, airframe/structural, hydraulic and pneumatic systems preferred.

Desired Certifications:

• FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certification
• EPA 608 Type I, Type II, and/or Type III Certification
• Completion of any Aviation Military Occupational Specialty Training
• Completion Civilian Aircraft Maintenance Technician Course
